Hello and thank you for taking the time to find out about Hospitality Rising. I started Hospitality Rising in May 2021 when I saw a tweet that said a recruitment crisis was heading hospitality’s way. 9 months later and the most recent statistics show that there are currently an astonishing 400 000 vacancies in UK hospitality sector, proving that the need for change and action is more acute than ever.
Hospitality Rising is a call to arms for the sector. It is an opportunity to unite and face the challenge collectively, rather than going it alone as has been the way in the past. Inspired by the other industry campaigns, most notably the famous ‘Be The Best’ initiative by The British Army, we want to shine a fresh light on hospitality that will inspire a new generation of people to consider jobs and careers in a sector that we know can be both rewarding and fun. As they say, a rising tide lifts all boats.
Currently, only 1 in 5 people would consider a role in hospitality and by delivering a compelling national media campaign we want to double this figure.
Over the last few months, myself and the volunteers behind Hospitality Rising have been working hard to create a groundswell of support and to raise the funds that will be required to make this mission a reality and have recently become the official response to the recruitment crisis, reporting directly to the government’s Hospitality & Tourism Skills Board. We consider £1 million to be the minimum amount required to make an impact and with this in mind, we have set ourselves 100 days to hit it. The finish line for this initial make-or-break fundraising sprint is May 6th, exactly 12 months on from the day Hospitality Rising was born, and we are pleased to say that (at the time of writing) we have £425 000 pledged.
We are so grateful to our supporters and we we are proud to have generated this total forma standing start, but we need to pass the million mark to make this happen.
So please do join fabulous brands like Hawksmoor, Wahaca, Hilton, Côte Brasserie, Punch Pubs, Loungers, Rosa’s Thai, Butlins, Pret and Pizza Express in pledging £10 +VAT per employee.
If you do, we can change the hospitality landscape together, forever.
Thanks
Mark
